A new after-school learning center has opened in Clarksville, offering students a chance to sharpen their math and reading skills through a globally recognized program. Kumon, the world’s largest after-school enrichment franchise, recently launched its newest center at 1401 Veterans Parkway.
The center will host an open house on Saturday, April 26, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., giving local families an opportunity to tour the facility and meet Instructor Neelam Neotia, the local entrepreneur and educator leading the program.
Unlike traditional tutoring, Kumon uses a self-paced learning model tailored to each child’s ability. The program is designed to build mastery through daily practice and gradually introduce more advanced concepts. According to the company, more than 290,000 children across the U.S.—from preschool to high school—are currently enrolled in Kumon centers. The Clarksville center is part of a network of over 1,500 locations nationwide. Students in the program often progress to studying material two to three years above their grade level, building critical thinking and problem-solving skills along the way.
Neotia, who is passionate about education and community development, said she hopes the center will serve as a valuable resource for Clarksville families, especially as U.S. students continue to face academic challenges. A recent report from the National Center for Education Statistics found that American students were outperformed in mathematics by students in 29 other countries.
Neotia sees the opening of the center as a step toward reversing that trend at the local level.
“At Kumon, we believe children have unlimited potential to succeed,” said Neotia. “My goal is to help each child develop strong academic skills, a love of learning, and the confidence to excel beyond the classroom. In partnership with parents and guided by the Kumon principles, we strive to discover the potential of each student and help them grow into capable, well-rounded individuals.”
The Kumon Center of Clarksville, located at 1401 Veterans Parkway, will be open to the public during the open house on Saturday, April 26, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Families interested in learning more about the Kumon Method and enrollment options are encouraged to attend.
