Park maintenance and facility improvements were the focus of discussion during the July meeting of the Borden Community Park Board.

Board members reviewed the condition of the park's electrical system and reported that a full inspection is still expected. Officials said they want electrical service throughout the park evaluated, including the concession stand and stage.

The board also discussed an aging drinking fountain that no longer contains the internal components needed for operation. Members agreed that removing the fixture immediately could expose an open drain and water line, so it will remain in place until a long-term solution is identified.

Additional maintenance projects included replacing playground border materials, adding more playground mulch and installing replacement bricks within the park. Officials also discussed ongoing efforts to secure donated cabinets for the concession stand after previous donation opportunities fell through. Board members said they will continue seeking community donations to help complete the project.

The board also received an update on repairs needed along the trail near the park. Officials said concerns regarding maintenance responsibilities and safety repairs have been shared with the responsible organization, and they are awaiting additional information on when repairs will be completed.
