The Scott County Visitors Commission is extending a hand to local businesses and organizations with three grant opportunities designed to enhance tourism, revitalize storefronts, and encourage community events.
One option is the Travel and Tourism Billboard Grant, which allows tourism-related businesses to promote themselves on billboards. If a business can demonstrate it will draw visitors into the community, the Commission will cover half of the cost of a billboard for one year, plus provide a $400 one-time payment toward the design.
The Storefront Improvement Grant is available to business and property owners who want to make upgrades to their building’s exterior. This program is intended to improve the appearance of local shops and attractions while strengthening the overall visitor experience.
Finally, the Event Grant is aimed at helping new or existing event ideas take shape with Commission support. By fostering unique activities, the goal is to attract more visitors and highlight the best of Scott County.
Application forms for each grant are available at the Visitors Commission Office located at the Depot, 90 North Main Street in Scottsburg. Questions may be directed to (812) 752-9211 or (812) 595-3678, where Chris Wakeman can provide further information.
