The (KSF) is hosting a Denim & Diamonds event on April 3 from 6 to 11 p.m. at Joe Huber's Barn 1 in Starlight. Denim & Diamonds event is a fundraising gala to raise funds to support mental health and suicide awareness efforts in Kentuckiana.
The KSF is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing awareness for suicide prevention programs and community events, erasing the stigma surrounding suicide and its causes, in turn encouraging those suffering from mental illness to seek treatment, and to show support for the families and friends of the many Americans who die by suicide each year.
The KSF was formed in memory of Kayde Sue Faulkenberg, a sophomore from Borden High School, who was also a varsity athlete and National Honor Society inductee, who was lost to suicide in 2019, at the age of 15. Kayde has been described as "a light in this world who cared about many people and was loved by even more". Family and friends have been forever changed by her loss.
The Denim & Diamonds event will feature dinner and a keynote speaker, Chad Dunlap, with Upshift with Chad. Entertainment will be provided by The Juice Box Heroes, and there will also be live and silent auctions. All proceeds from the event will go to supporting programs and services through the KSF. Since 2019, the foundation has awarded $145,000 in high school scholarships, facilitated Mental Health & Suicide Awareness programs in multiple schools, financially paid for counseling for those with the inability to pay, and supported families affected by suicide through funding funeral services and counseling.
Tickets for the event are $75 per person and can be purchased online at https://www.kaydesuefoundation.com/events/denim-diamonds. There is also sponsorship options for the event at that link.
