Silver Creek Lady Dragons
Defeat Scottsburg Warriorettes

The Silver Creek Lady Dragons faced off against the Scottsburg Warriorettes for a first-round matchup in sectional play. The Lady Dragons took a 17-3 lead after the first quarter, started the game with a 17-0 run, and never looked back, leading 39-10 at halftime. The Warriorettes did hold the Lady Dragons to multiple scoring droughts, but could not score and fell 65-23. Brooklynn Renn of Silver Creek led all scorers with 24 points, while Emma Schoen had 20. KK Grogan led the Warriorettes with ten points. Here is what Silver Creek coach Scott Schoen said after the game: “We came into the game wanting to pressure the basketball a lot. I think Carrie does a great job. I know she is frustrated, and I told her that we have all been there. However, her kids played hard, which is a true testament to a really good coach, because most kids would have quit, yet they played hard until the very end. We did a really good job at playing our game and just really disrupted them the entire night.” Here is what Scottsburg coach Carrie Daniels said: “I think it was a challenging year. It was very disappointing. We knew it was going to be a tough year, but I don't think we ever would have guessed we would finish the season without a win. More than anything, it gives all of us motivation to go to work in the off-season to make sure this does not happen again, because we face another year next year that could be very similar if we do not improve. It starts with me and trickles on down.”
