The Scottsburg Police Department has hired a new police officer. 22-year-old Jeremy Beswick was approved by the Board of Public Works and Safety at their recent meeting. Beswick is a graduate of Scottsburg High School and successfully passed his medical and psychological evaluations.

Beswick will receive a cellphone stipend immediately and additional benefits such as a clothing allowance after one year of service. Bewick's official start date was September 30.

The addition of Beswick to the police department refelcts Scottsburg's commitment to attracting qualified local talent to serve its residents. The board looks forward to seeing Beswick excel in his role as he contributes to the safety of the city.
