Scott County schools have received significant funding for safety upgrades as part of Indiana's Secured School Safety Grant Program. The grants are part of the state's biennial budget passed in 2023, which made substantial investments in school safety across Indiana. A total of $24 million in state matching grants has been awarded to 499 schools statewide.

The program allows schools to tailor their safety plans to their specific needs. This can include enhancing communication systems, hiring resource officers or other upgrades to keep students and staff safe.

In Scott County, School District 1 received $32,975, while District 2 was awarded $81,000. These funds can be used for a variety of safety measures.

Since the program began in 2013, the state has allocated $187 million to schools across Indiana for safety matching grants, ensuring that each district can implement measures that meet their unique security needs.
