Scott County officials have directed $25,000 in restricted opioid settlement funds to Genesis House, a resource dedicated to helping residents struggling with substance use and recovery. During a recent presentation, County Council President J.R. Ward joined Commissioner Adam Bomar and Commissioner President Randy Julian in formally presenting the check to Genesis House representative Megan Stockdale.
The funds come from the county’s share of state opioid settlement dollars, which are legally restricted for use in treatment, prevention, and recovery efforts.
Genesis House provides a safe, structured environment for individuals in recovery. The facility offers transitional housing, support services, and pathways to treatment, aiming to break the cycle of addiction and reduce relapse rates.
County leaders emphasized that careful oversight of settlement funds remains a top priority. By channeling resources into established programs like Genesis House, officials believe the county is taking meaningful steps to address the long-term effects of the opioid crisis.
