The Scott County Council has finalized the allocation of $658,702.01 in remaining American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, distributing the money across several critical projects and community needs. The council approved the expenditures, ensuring the funds are used for long-term benefits across the county.
Breakdown of ARPA Allocations
$80,000 to the Scott County Fair Board to support ongoing operations and improvements at the county grounds.
$85,000 to the Lexington Fire Department to assist with operational costs, planned renovations, and recovery from losses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
$236,000 for the Scott County jail's security upgrade. The purpose is to install a new video and communication system, improving safety and functionality across both the old and newer sections of the jail.
$17,910 for the county-wide emergency alert system (LINK) to implement a safety system allowing county employees to communicate emergencies instantly from their workstations.
$60,835 for a trash compactor for the Transfer Station to replace a 35-year-old compactor, ensuring efficient operations at the transfer station.
$9,600 for meeting technology updates. The funds will be used to purchase updated OWL meeting devices and a smartboard for improved communication and live streaming of county meetings.
$167,422.01 to offset rising county employee health insurance premiums, reducing the financial burden.
