Rose Island Playhouse, based in Charlestown, will hold auditions for John Anthony’s hilarious comedy “Sandbag, Stage Left” on Saturday, August 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Charlestown Public Library and on Monday, August 5 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Arts & Enrichment Center on Water Street.

In this outrageous comedy, Arnold Meddle is on trial for killing his wife, Amelia, by squashing her on stage with a sandbag during her solo rendition of “So Long, Dearie.” It is the case of the century, or for at least last week, under the steady gavel of no-nonsense Judge Been.

There are five male, seven female, and five nongender specific roles in the production.

The play will be directed by Julie Hartzell and Rhoda Meier.

The performance dates are September 27-29 and October 4-6 at the Arts & Enrichment Center. Rehearsals will be on Monday and Thursday evenings from 6:30-9:30 starting on August 12. If you have any questions, please contact Julie at 502-293-9099 or Rhoda at 502-432-3279.

This play is perfect for veteran actors and beginners.
