The Scottsburg City Council will hold a public hearing on Monday, July 14, to gather public input on a proposed ordinance that would give small businesses the option to participate in the city’s trash collection program.
The ordinance, identified as Ordinance No. 2025-10, would amend Chapter 78 of the Scottsburg Municipal Code to allow defined small businesses to opt in to city-provided trash and sanitation services. Under the proposed change, small businesses could enroll in the city’s program at a rate of $10 per month per container.
The hearing is scheduled for 6 p.m. at City Hall, located at 2 East McClain Avenue, in the council room.
Copies of the ordinance are available for public inspection at the Clerk-Treasurer’s office during regular business hours. City officials encourage business owners and residents to attend the hearing and share their opinions before final adoption of the measure.
