Warriors and Pirates Advance to Second Round
The Scottsburg Warriors and the Charlestown Pirates each advanced to the second round in there respected sectionals on Friday, October 24. The Scottsburg Warriors hosted the Mustangs of Edgewood for a first round match up in the Class 3A Sectional 31 and the Pirates hosted the Dragons of Silver Creek for a first round match up in Class 4A Sectional 23. The Pirates dominated the Mustangs as they scored 24 unanswered points to win the game 31-7. The Pirates ran right over the Dragons with a score of 51-26 making them 2-0 against the Pirates this season.
The Warriors will now host North Harrison on Friday, October 31 at 7p.m. while the Pirates will travel to Martinsville for a 7:30p.m. kickoff. The Warriors defeated the Cougars 21-14 back in late August and the Pirates have not yet faced Martinsville this season.
The Warriors will enter the game as a six point favorite over the Cougars and the Pirates are a ten point favorite over the Artesians. The Warriors were able to make the championship game in last years sectionals but this year they are a heavy favorite to advance to regionals. The Pirates lost to Martinsville last yar 56-0 in the first round so, they will be looking for a revenge game on Friday night.
