In an effort to enhance county employee benefits without adding cost to the county, Group Life is partnering with local government to provide full-time employees with access to affordable, permanent, and portable life insurance coverage. This innovative program not only fills gaps in the current benefits package but also provides peace of mind for employees and their families.

One standout feature of this partnership is that it comes at zero cost to the county. Employees can opt into a cafeteria-style benefits plan based on their individual needs. Coverage options include life insurance, critical illness, cancer, heart attack, and stroke protections, as well as income replacement and mortgage protection. All policies are portable, meaning employees can retain their coverage even after retirement. Premiums are locked in based on the employee's age at the time of enrollment and never increase.

“Currently employee life insurance coverage ends upon retirement, which leaves families vulnerable,” a Group Life representative explained. “This partnership ensures employees can protect their loved ones into retirement, even on a fixed income.”

In addition to optional benefits, all employees will automatically receive two free benefits:

  1. $3,000 in life insurance coverage for the employee, plus $3,000 for their spouse and $1,000 per dependent.

  2. A discount health card offering 10-85% savings on services like vision, chiropractic care, and hearing aids.

Employees will also save on pre-tax dollars, and the county benefits from reduced payroll taxes. Group Life representatives will meet with employees individually-either in-person or virtually-to explain the options and customize plans. Spouses are welcome to join these meetings to ensure families make informed decisions together.

The implementation process involves distributing 231 information packets to employees. Meetings will be scheduled with each department, offering flexibility to accommodate busy schedules. Virtual calls are available for those who need alternative arrangements.

Group Life has successfully partnered with other counties and is eager to bring the same high level of service and support to the local county employees. With over a century of experience, Group Life has a reputation for reliability and quick payouts, typically within 48 hours after receiving a death certificate.

County employees are encouraged to review the materials, attend informational meetings, and take advantage of this opportunity.
