Nonprofits serving youth in Clark and Floyd counties can now apply for funding through the Youth Philanthropy Council (YPC) Grants Program, offered by the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana (CFSI). Applications opened on January 1, 2025, and will be accepted until January 31, 2025.

The program provides grants of up to $1,000 to support projects that benefit youth. Applicants must ensure their projects align with at least one of the following objectives: Promote healthy development and a safe environment; Provide opportunities that benefit the community; Develop skills for youth or foster positive relationships between youth and adults. While not a requirement, priority will be given to organizations that actively involve youth in the planning and implementation of their projects.

“This grant program provides an opportunity for young people to build valuable skills in assessing impactful projects and managing resources responsibly,” said Crystal Melcher, Vice President of Community Philanthropy at CFSI. “At the same time, it supports local nonprofits dedicated to improving the lives of youth and strengthening youth-focused initiatives.”

Applications are available online at www.CFSouthernIndiana.com by clicking on the YPC Grants section. Nonprofits that have previously received funding must use all prior funds and submit a final report before reapplying.

The Youth Philanthropy Council, a leadership program for high school students in grades 9-12 from various schools in Clark and Floyd counties, reviews the grant applications. Council members, who work alongside adult volunteers, gain experience in servant leadership, volunteerism, and philanthropy. The YPC has awarded over $173,000 in grants since its inception.

Grant awards for this cycle will be announced in early April 2025.
