The IHSAA wrestling semi-state was held last weekend at Evansville. As with the sectional and regional, wrestlers who place in the top four per weight class qualify to advance to the state level. Silas Garpetti and Gabriel Wheatley (Silver Creek) and Dustin Collier (Charlestown) were competing at the semi-state level.
Garpetti, a freshman, wrestled in the 120 weight class. Garpetti lost by technical fall in his match against senior Justus Thrasher of Center Grove. Wheatley, a junior, faced senior, Griffin Oshburn, from Terre Haute North and lost by fall. Collier, a freshman, started his day with a match against freshman Quin Coleman, from Gibson Southern. After winning this match by major decision, Collier went on to face sophomore Nicholas Russell (Bloomington South). Collier lost in this round by fall.
Although these three didn't place in the top four, they all have seasons to be proud of.
