The Scottsburg Warriors Football Team hosted the Cougars of North Harrison on Friday, August 29. The Warriors would receive the ball to start the game and would only need five plays to score as Nathan Byrd would throw a 27 yard touchdown pass to Garrett Boling. The Cougars would tie the game up early in the second quarter but that would not last long as Byrd would throw a 26 yard touchdown pass to Matthew Wickey to take a 13-7 lead at halftime. The Warriors defense continued to be a problem for the Cougars in the second half as they would force a punt on the opening possession. Byrd would then throw his third touchdown pass of the game as he would find Matthew Hamilton for a 16 yard touchdown pass to give the Warriors a 21-7 lead after completing the two point conversion. The fourth quarter would get exciting with four minutes left in the game as the Cougars scored a touchdown to only trail 21-14 and would force a punt with three minutes left. Boling would get a huge interception with two minutes left and the Warriors would run out the clock and went on to win the game with a score of 21-14. Here is what coach Kyle Mullins said after the game. "We knew what type of team North Harrison was before we came into this game. We knew that they were a ball control type of offense and we had to maximize our positions in this game. Did we play perfect? absolutely not, but I am proud of our guys. I am really proud of our defense for forcing three turnovers against a team like North Harrison because it is hard to make them turn the ball over. I am sure our guys are not happy with just a seven point win, but against a team that has great ball control, I think they did a really good job." Byrd would end up with 120 yards off a nine completions. Landon Shuck ended up with 141 rushing yards and 24 receiving yards. The Warriors are now 2-0 on the season.
