The Scott County School District 1 (SCSD1) board has approved the purchase of four, slightly used school buses. At the July meeting, Superintendent Trevor Jones told the board that Transportation Director, Jeff Brooks received a quote from Midwest Transit on several 2021 buses. The vehicles have low mileage and were formerly leased.
They looked at several financing options through West Banco, Stock Yards, and New Washington State Bank and found the best rate would be 13 cents on 2025 taxes. Jones asked the board to use funds from the Rainy Day account as an emergency purchase for buses unplanned and unfunded in the Bus Replacement Plan and Operations. The cost for the purchase is $338,684.
Before the buses will be added to the fleet, they will need painted, re-lettered, and pass safety inspections. Jones said, “It's kind of a long process.”
Board member David Deaton made the motion to approve the funding with Ryan Payne seconding. The resolution passed 4-0.
