At a recent meeting, the Scott County Commissioners appointed two new members to the Scott County Board of Zoning Appeals, filling vacant seats with individuals who bring strong educational backgrounds and community interest.
Commissioner Adam Bomar reported that a resident, Evan Campbell, had reached out to express interest in serving. However, Board President Randy Julian recommended the appointments of Matt Oberlies and Andrew Boswell, citing their qualifications and educational experience. Julian noted that Boswell holds an engineering degree, which he believes will be valuable to the board’s work.
Commissioner Greg Prince supported Julian’s nominations, and Bomar ultimately agreed, stating that he trusted Julian and Prince’s judgment. “I wouldn’t make that decision if I didn’t think you believed those two men were more suited for the position,” Bomar said.
Julian emphasized that the decision was not a personal slight to Campbell. He encouraged him and others in the community to remain engaged and consider serving in the future. “The board will be facing a lot of upcoming changes that will require careful thought,” Julian noted. “These are often thankless roles, and I always appreciate those who are willing to step up and serve.”
The appointments of Oberlies and Boswell were unanimously approved.
