The Charlestown-Clark County Public Library is inviting families to take part in a series of free, bird-themed programs during Spring Break.
The “For the Birds” lineup includes three family-friendly events designed to help children learn about birds through hands-on activities and educational presentations. All programs require registration, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
The first program, “Birds in My Backyard,” will feature a naturalist from the Louisville Nature Center leading a family birdwatching adventure. Sessions will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 17 at the Charlestown Library and Wednesday, March 18 at the Sellersburg Library.
Families interested in learning about pet birds can attend “Meet the Pet Birds,” featuring an educator from Greentree Pet Center. The program will allow participants to meet several birds while learning about the responsibilities and benefits of owning one. It will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, March 20 at the Charlestown Library.
The library will also host “Make a Bird and Birdhouse Craft,” where children in kindergarten through fifth grade and a caregiver can create a yarn bird and paint a birdhouse. Craft sessions will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. at multiple library locations: Monday, March 16 at the Charlestown Library; Thursday, March 19 at the New Washington Library; Monday, March 23 at the Borden Library; Tuesday, March 24 at the Henryville Library; and Wednesday, March 25 at the Sellersburg Library.
To register for any of the programs, call the library at 812-256-3337.
