An accident on Monday, August 18, claimed the life of an Indianapolis woman.
Troopers from the Indiana State Police Sellersburg Post, officers from the Clark County Sheriff's Department and the Tri-Township Fire and Rescue responded to a crash around 5:30pm on I-65 Northbound near the 10.2 mile marker.
The investigation revealed that a gray 2018 Ford F-150 pickup was northbound in the center lane of I-65 near the 10 mile marker when it attempted to merge into the far left lane, it struck a blue 2019 Chevrolet Malibu that occupied the left lane, causing both vehicles to lose control and spin into the median between the north and southbound lanes. The pickup rolled over before coming to a rest in the southbound fast lane. The Malibu came to a stop, resting on top of the center guardrail barrier.
The driver of the Malibu was not injured and released at the scene. The driver of the Ford F-150 suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital.
The passenger of the F-150, Gloria Jean Jones, 70, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
