
Indiana State Police Announces Recruitment Drive for 87th Recruit Academy

The Indiana State Police is officially inviting applications for its 87th Recruit Academy, open to both traditional recruits and lateral applicants. Those interested in starting a fulfilling career as an Indiana State Trooper can apply online at IndianaTrooper.com. The application period closes at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2024.
Successful candidates from the 87th Recruit Academy who complete their Field Training Officer (FTO) program will receive a one-time taxable bonus of $5,000, in addition to their regular salary.
Academy Benefits:

Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must be between 21 and 40 years old at the time of appointment (July 17, 2025, for traditional applicants).
- Must meet vision standards of 20/50 acuity in each eye, corrected or uncorrected.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license.
- Must be willing to serve anywhere in Indiana as designated by the Superintendent.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
For Current Law Enforcement Officers:
- Applicants must have at least three continuous years of full-time merit law enforcement service by December 11, 2024. They may be assigned to their current district or, if out-of-state, to a district of their choice if their home state certification is deemed equivalent to Indiana’s standards.
- Lateral recruits will undergo periodic performance reviews. If performance criteria are not met, candidates may continue in the traditional academy with a revised graduation date of July 17, 2025.
