For the third consecutive year, WMPI I-105.3 is leading the charge against hunger in Scott County with its annual Food-A-Thon. Throughout the month of June, the local radio station is collecting non-perishable food items and monetary donations for the Clearinghouse Food Bank in Scottsburg.
The Clearinghouse plays a vital role in the community, offering food, clothing, and essential resources to families, veterans, children, and individuals experiencing homelessness. Each month, the organization distributes more than 23,000 pounds of food to local residents in need.
This year, the campaign received a generous boost from an anonymous local business, which donated a $200 check and is encouraging other area businesses to match that amount.
Every dollar raised goes directly to the Clearinghouse to continue its mission of support.
Community members are invited to participate by attending a live Food-A-Thon event at Save-A-Lot in Scottsburg on Thursday, June 20, from 2 to 6 p.m. Donations can also be dropped off at the WMPI I-105.3 studios, located at 22 East McClain Street in Scottsburg.
For those unable to visit in person, arrangements can be made by calling 812-752-5612. Volunteers will gladly coordinate a time to pick up donations.
WMPI I-105.3 thanks all supporters and listeners for helping fight hunger and serve their neighbors in Scott County.
