The Scottsburg City Council will hold a public hearing this month to consider a petition to vacate part of a platted alleyway between Walnut and Green Streets. The petition was filed by Timothy W. Lucas, who is asking the city to vacate the east-west portion of the alleyway.
The hearing is scheduled for Monday, July 14, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Scottsburg City Hall, 2 East McClain Avenue.
According to officials, copies of the petition are available for public review at the Office of the Clerk-Treasurer at City Hall. Residents and other interested parties are invited to attend the hearing and offer comments. Anyone who may be affected by the proposed vacation of the alleyway is entitled to file objections as provided under Indiana Code 36-7-3-13.
Following public input, the Scottsburg City Council could take action through an ordinance to officially vacate the described section of the alleyway.
