Downtown Scottsburg will come alive with the sounds of classic country on Friday, June 20, as Mystery Train takes the stage for the city’s popular Music on the Square summer concert series.
Led by Bob Perkins, a seasoned drummer who brought the band back to life in 2019 after a 27-year hiatus, Mystery Train has quickly become a fan favorite across southern Indiana. Perkins, who resides in Indianapolis, originally formed the group and decided to reignite the spark upon his retirement. After the pandemic, he rebuilt the band with a talented new lineup that celebrates the roots of classic country music.
Joining Perkins are:
• Jim Hayden of Spencer on lead guitar and vocals,
• Bill Robertson of Greenwood on rhythm guitar and vocals,
• Ernie Hayes of Bloomington on steel guitar,
• John Stith on bass, also from Blooomington.
The free concert begins at 7 p.m. on the Scottsburg downtown square and promises a lively, nostalgic evening for country music fans of all ages. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and enjoy the small-town summer charm under the open sky.
If you can’t catch them in Scottsburg, be sure to check out Mystery Train again at the Monroe County Fair on July 4.
