The City of Charlestown is inviting residents and visitors to help shape the future of the Family Activities Park through a public feedback meeting and online survey. An open-house style meeting will be held at the park on Wednesday, April 30, from 6 to 7 p.m., where community members can explore the space, share their thoughts, and contribute ideas for its continued development. The park is located at 1000 Park Street, directly across from Charlestown High School.
Originally opened in 2013, the Family Activities Park has become a local favorite, offering a variety of attractions including a skatepark, an 18-hole mini-golf course, an outdoor covered roller skating rink, a playground, a splash pad, a concession building, and a private party room. In 2024, the park expanded with The Depot, a teen hangout area introduced as part of a new development phase.
The City, in partnership with Charlestown Parks and the Charlestown Redevelopment Commission, is developing a comprehensive master plan to guide the future of the park. Public input will be a key component in setting priorities and identifying both short- and long-term goals.
“Our commitment to community collaboration makes this master plan a critical part of the future development and additions to the Family Activities Park,” said Mayor Treva Hodges. “I love working with feedback received directly from our residents, and I hope we have record numbers of responses so that we can make the park the best it can be.
”Parks Director Carrie Basham echoed the mayor’s sentiments: “We’re eager to hear from our park guests about how we can continue to grow and improve the Family Activities Park. We want our visitors to have a great experience and hearing these ideas will help us set long- and short-term project goals.”
The park operates daily from Memorial Day to Labor Day and is also open during Charlestown Christmas City, from Thanksgiving through Christmas. The skatepark remains open year-round.
In addition to attending the public meeting, residents can share their feedback through online surveys available at: CityofCharlestown.com and CharlestownParks.com.
Everyone is encouraged to participate and help ensure the Family Activities Park continues to thrive as a fun, inclusive, and welcoming space for the entire community.
