Capital Projects Plan approved for future SCSD2 improvements

The Scott County School District 2 board approved the Capital Projects Plan as part of the 2025 budget, acknowledging that while the plan serves as a roadmap, it is more of a “wish list” as the district continues to stabilize its finances. The plan outlines potential projects above $10,000 that could be addressed in the coming years, whether in 2025 or later.

A public hearing for the plan was held in September, and the board has now adopted the resolution required by Indiana Code. A certified copy will be submitted to the Department of Local Government Finance (DLGF) for review. The board emphasized flexibility in the timeline, approving the plan while acknowledging that the projects may be tackled as financial circumstances allow.

The Capital Project Plan includes the following:

1. Basketball scoreboard -$15,000

2. Softball scoreboard - $15,000

3. Soccer scoreboard - $15,000

4. Gymnasium stage curtain - $10,000

5. McClain Hall gym floor - $500,000

6. Storage shed - $40,000

7. Roof project - $500,000

8. HVAC projects - $1,000,000
