Charlestown Founders Week starts the runs the week of June 21 – 28.


Saturday, June 21


10am – 2pm - Diversity Festival & Day of Service at Greenway Park. This event will be led by a group of Charlestown teenagers. The event will also feature vendors, music, and a community service project of cleaning up along Pleasant Run Creek and Greenway Park.


10am – 1pm – Saturdays on the Square Pop-Up Market on the city square. The market will have local vendors and music.


2pm – Prince and Princess Pageant at the Arts & Enrichment Center. Contestants must be aged 5-7 years old and reside in Charlestown or surrounding counties. The entry fee is $20.00. Pageant applications can be found on cityofcharlestown.com


Sunday, June 22


2pm – Team Trivia at the Arts & Enrichment Center. The theme will be “Harry Potter & The British Invasion”. Prize baskets going to the top team. This is a free event with no registration required.


6pm – Much Ado About Nothing at the City Square. This Shakespearean comedy is presented by the Arts Alliance of Southern Indiana.


Monday, June 23


9am – 3pm – Brick Building Clinic at Charlestown Middle School. This clinic is hosted by Charlestown Parks in partnership with University of Louisville J.B. School of Engineering, Dan Cristiani Excavating, Greater Clark County Educational Foundation, Maker 13, CORE Construction, Community Foundation of Southern Indiana, King Donuts, and Zaxby's of Jeffersonville. Students ages 8-12 will design and build with Legos with guidance from engineers and designers. Preregistration is required. Must be Greater Clark County School student or resident of Charlestown.


Tuesday, June 24


6pm - “Marriage, Mob, Murder” Mystery Dinner Party at the Arts & Enrichment Center. Enjoy a mystery dinner and see if you can solve the case of a suspicious school reunion. Dinner is provided by Mar Concessions. Tickets are $30 each or $160/table. Purchase tickets at cityofcharlestown.com.


Friday, June 27


6-9pm – Family Fun Night at the Family Activities Park. Enjoy a free hot dog, water and Blue Bell Ice Cream for the first 150 guests. The Family Activities Park will be open for free for families to enjoy a night out. The Depot will have live music from Wills Tucker Band.


6pm – Louisville Roller Derby Exhibition Match at the Family Activities Park part of the Family Fun Night. They will introduce the crowd to the sport, then perform a 30-minute match. Skaters will stick around a help teach and coach those looking to learn the basics of skating, or advanced moves.



Saturday, June 28


8am - 6pm – Kentucky Small Critter Convention at the Arts & Enrichment Center. The convention is the top fundraising event hosted by The Celtic Glider for non-profit organization Cordy's Castle.


10am – 3pm – Backyard Classics Car Club 27th Annual Car Show on the Charlestown City Sqaure. Cars will line Main, Main Cross, and Short Street. There will be cars, music, prizes and food trucks. Car registration forms can be picked up at City Hall or on CityofCharlestown.com


1pm – Founders Week Parade - “Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” - This year's Grand Marshal is Donna Coomer, who has served as the City of Charlestown's Clerk Treasurer for 25 years. The parade route begins at Charlestown High School and heads down Monroe Street to Main Street to Level Street before returning to the High School. The parade entry form can be found on CityofCharlestown.com


2pm - Amateur Corn Hold Tournament at Charlestown Little League Park. The blind-draw tournament is for amateurs and recreational players only. Sponsored by Ace Hardware, the 1st place team will win a Yeti Cooler and a $50 gift card. The 2nd place team will win $50 gift cards. Registration day of event.


2pm – 11pm – Rock and Glow Festival, Balloon Glow and Concert at Charlestown Little League Park. The festival grounds open at 2pm with a live DJ until 5pm when live bands take the stage. The Family Festival Fields will feature, bounce houses, games, and activities from Charlestown Parks and area organizations. Local craft vendors will be set up throughout the event as well.Tethered balloon rides will be offered to give a fantastic view of Charlestown ($15 adults/$10 children) starting at approximately 6pm. Once the sun sets, the hot air balloons will start the balloon glow. One the stage, the Blind Corn Liquor Pickers perform at 6pm. Followed by The Rigby's a tribute band to The Beatles, at 9pm.
